About

Patty Hernandez is a Cuban-American classical guitarist born in Miami, Florida. She began playing the guitar at 7 years old, and became the recipient of a full scholarship at the Miami Conservatory of Music in 2017, under the guidance of Dr. Federico Musgrove. Patty Hernandez has placed top prizes in numerous guitar competitions, such as 1st Prize in the  Josefina P. Tuason International Guitar Competition - Undergraduate Division, 3rd prize in the 2020 James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition, 1st prize in the Florida State Guitar Youth Competition, and 3rd prize in the 2020 Florida Guitar Foundation International Youth Competition. She has performed in masterclasses for renowned artists such as Ana Vidovic, Meng Su, Jason Vieux, Irina Kulikova, Hao Yan, and Manuel Barrueco. Hernandez completed her undergraduate degree at the Frost School of Music as a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship. She is now a guitar teacher at the Frost Preparatory Academy and a TA for Classical Guitar Performance at the Frost School of Music, completing her MM in Classical Guitar Performance with Professor Rafael Padron. Hernandez is also a part of the Miami Guitar Duo alongside her twin sister, Angie Hernandez. She strives to use music to touch the hearts and emotions of her audience, while guiding the younger generation to do the same. Hernandez takes pride as a latina in the classical guitar world, and hopes to inspire other young girls to pursue their love for the instrument.
